The first thing that you can do to make sure that your pets have the best living conditions is to make sure that all the mechanical equipment is properly functioning each and every way. Check the filter systems and make sure that they are running smoothly. Check to make sure that there is a proper water flow. If you notice anything unusual, take care of it right away. Poor water flow can cause the chemical balance in the water to be disturbed.

Agar worm is a highly contagious disease. It is caused by parasites that will imbed into the flesh of the host. The fish will rub against anything in the tank in order to try to scrape off the parasites.
Like fish lice, these parasites cause irritation and also some localized bleeding at the point where the parasite is attached. You will see a white worm protruding from this point. There is also a danger of a secondary bacterial infection that can occur.

The treatment for anchor worm includes removing the fish from the water and then taking the worm from the fish with tweezers. Be very careful not to rip the flesh off of the fish, and be careful not to break the parasite. This is very dangerous to the finish, and it can be very difficult because the fish are so small.
After removing the parasites, you will need to treat the aquarium with an antibiotic.
