This is not going to be an easy job but it is definetly attainable. It may be a bit of a wacky idea but I think that this business model has some real potential.
Many doctors in the field are worried that putting that much strain on animals will cause an increase in heart problems. Pet airways have already announced that there will be an on board animal cardiology vet to take care of any flight trouble. Considering that high altitude could affect the health of the animals it is very crucial to consider every possibility.

Currently Pet Airways only serves New York, Washington, Chicago, Denver and LA. The price for one ticket is only £91 which is a very competitive rate to beat by any other American airline.

Pet Airways claims that it offers a very different and unique service for animals. All animals will be loaded into carriers on the aircraft instead of seats to ensure their security. The animals, up to 50 at a time will be escorted to the plane by attendants who will check them every 15 minutes during the flight to make sure they are ok. Local animal hospitals from around the area have been in support over the idea to take animals in the sky by plane and think it is a great idea.

The company, which will begin with one flight in each of its five cities, might add more flights and cities. Within the next year, Binder hopes to develop over 25 desitinations onto their current roster.

It can take just as long to become a veterinary surgeon as it can to become a docotor, as after school you need to attend four years of college and then four years of veterinary school to begin with. Getting a placement at an animal hospital can help with credit, but it wont make your time any shorter actually in college. In order to get into a vet college, you’ll have to stand out from the crowd as there are 28 of them in the states alone. There are many different diseases to learn about, but also a number of different spieces you may have to treat along the way. People who want to become doctors have to familarise themselves with the human structures, but a vet will have quite afew speices to learn in order to become a vet. Thats not even mentioning if you want to specialise in a certain kind of animal. The same as the bar exam taken by lawyers, the final college exam, if failed wont let you work for a veterinary practice or treat sick animals. Consider carefully which state you want to take the state exam in, as passing it in one state doesnt mean you can practice in all 50 states.

Even when you becoming a vet your constantly learning new methods and medical techiniques to better serve animals. What you might be suprised to learn is that vets also have to take a vow to heal, treat and protect animals -similar to the vows that doctos have to take. There are long hours involved with being a vet, yet the hardest thing will be to put an animal you cannot save out of its misery. If you cant get to grips with that fact, being a vet isnt the career move for you.

In closing, if you have the drive to do it and a passion to work with animals you may need to consider becoming a vet.

My best friend’s cat died last week. Needless to say she was more than a little upset, but then he wasn’t just a cat he was family. He was her companion, her confidant and her friend. She only found out he was ill about a month ago when she took him to the vets in Sussex for veterinary care and they found a lump in his stomach, she would have done anything and paid any amount of money to save him but unfortunately they had found it too late.

In the end the decision was out of my friend’s control, but for a lot of people when their pets get ill or are injured they are faced with a horrible choice. Obviously there is no such thing as NHS for pets, and for those who don’t have pet insurance it’s an extremely expensive business (my friend paid almost £90 for a blood test that didn’t even help to identify the problem). Of course most people would do anything to help their pets and money is no issue when it comes to helping such an important member of the family.

And for those who can afford it there is no end of veterinary help available, from basic medicines and physiotherapy for pets to specific animal cardiology and ophthalmology facilities. If it’s possible for the illness to be treated it will be treated, and there is every chance that the pet will make a full recovery. But what about when a pet is suddenly injured or taken ill and their owner can’t afford to foot the (often massive) bill? It’s hardly fair that one innocent animal’s life takes priority over another simply because of the size of their owners’ wallets.

One cat owner from Brighton took on this problem in a new way when his cat Mumble was seriously injured in the street and needed urgent treatment to survive. Rory O’Connor had no pet insurance, and Mumble’s treatment at a veterinary hospital in Sussex was estimated at around £1000, much more than he could afford, but he couldn’t bear to just watch her suffer. So in what he described as a ‘last ditch effort’ Rory decided to start a group on Facebook called ‘Save Mumble’, inviting all his friends to spread the word about Mumble’s unfortunate plight and asking everyone to make donations of £1. At first he thought he’d have no chance but his plea touched the hearts of thousands of people on facebook. His friends told all their friends about it, and within a short couple of weeks he had raised enough money to pay the bill for Mumble’s treatment in full. She made a full and fast recovery, all thanks to the overwhelming support of friends and the power of social networking!
